2nd marriages data references
After all the discussion on how to show marriages on the idividual record window I have another wrinkle to iron out - how to show 2nd marriages. I've tried and tried but all I can get is the date of the 2nd marriage shown against all spouses i.e. the first spouse as well as the second which obviously isn't right.
Any ideas?
Thanks

2nd marriages data references
Hi Jane
I'm talking about another column to be added in the individual record list. I have got columns showing the first marriage date and spouse surname. What I would like now is to show (where applicable) any second marriage dates and names.
INDI.~SPOU[2]>FAMS[1]>MARR[1].DATE gives me a date of another marriage but shows it against all three spouses (i.e. man 1 plus both his wives)
INDI.~SPOU[2]>FAMS[2]>MARR[1].DATE is better but doesn't pick all the second marriages up for some reason - only about a dozen - although for those dozen it works perfectly.
INDI.~SPOU[2]>FAMS[2]>MARR[2].DATE returns nothing.
So any ideas?
Thanks
Louise

To get each person's first 3 marriages, showing spouse name and date for each marriage (i.e. 6 columns) you want the following 6 expressions:
INDI.~SPOU[1]>
INDI.FAMS[1]>MARR[1].DATE
INDI.~SPOU[2]>
INDI.FAMS[2]>MARR[1].DATE
INDI.~SPOU[3]>
INDI.FAMS[3]>MARR[1].DATE
Looking at the expressions you tried: For any given person X...
INDI.~SPOU[2]>FAMS[1]>MARR[1].DATE
...gives the marr date of X's 2nd spouse's first marriage (which is not necessarily her/his marr to X of course)
INDI.~SPOU[2]>FAMS[2]>MARR[1].DATE
...gives the marr date of X's 2nd spouse's second marriage (if any - and again, this may or may not be her/his marr to X)
INDI.~SPOU[2]>FAMS[2]>MARR[2].DATE
...gives the marr date of X's 2nd spouse's second marriage to the same person. i.e. in order for this to return anything, you would need, at a mimimum, to have a couple who married each other twice.

Thanks again Jane - works perfectly.
And thanks for the explanation of my attempts - now you've explained it it's obvious what I was doing wrong!
