Relationship descriptions

When I create a diagram, especially with 5 or so generations and apply the avoid page boundaries, the sides of the tree overlap the relationship description text on whichever side i have chosen in diagram options.
Any suggestions as to how to move the tree or descriptions separately?
Thanks.

I have not been able to get my data to do this. Have you made the font for the descriptions smaller/bigger and if you do does it help?

Hi Jane

I'll have to let you know tonight when I try the font size at home. It's not a major problem anyway.

Another thing has come to mind. Is there a way of renumbering the Families, in other words, start the earliest generations at 1 and so on? I think that they are in the order in which they were 'created' in FH?.

You can do a selection of re-numbering tasks in Work with record identifiers tool, but I don't think you can directly use generations, unless you specify manual numbers.

On my own data I don't use the numbers other than as references as I am tracking around 40 different lines the generation number would not be good option for my numbering.

What were you wanting to renumber for?

Hi Jane
I am going to send a diagram print along with a Family Report to someone who is not familiar with computers at all I suspect!). I want to annotate the diagram with Family numbers which correspond with the family list in the report and thought it would be less confusing ir I could start with my GGGGgrandfather as Family1 and work down numerically.
Just for his ease of reading them both! Thats why!

I would be tempted to leave the family numbers alone and just add a manual reference using what ever scheme you like.

It may be tricky to get meaningful numbers on the chart as most people will have two family numbers.

As I said before, I can't check until i get home but when I have to select which families to put in the report, can I arrange them in the list so that they print in genealogical order, even though the numbers don't change?
That might be a solution.

You can order the families in any order.

I would suggest using a query to get them all in the order you want.

or doing a manual sort prior to printing,

Hi Jane
Thanks for the help. Placing the relationships on the left and increasing the font size seems to work with that particular problem. Also, adding the families to the report in the right order individually works a treat.
Finally, how can I show middle names in the diagram text boxes>

If you want to show the complete name take the ;Prefered off the end of
%INDI.NAME;PREFERED%
That will show the complete name
