Printing all family tree as a report

Post by Rohaise » 23 Nov 2008 13:54

I don't know if this is possible in Family Historian but I've just been passed a 70 page family tree report covering at least 10 generations done by a cousin on Brother's Keeper software. It's a report tree not a diagram tree. I couldn't find anything to tell me how I could do this on FH, it will only do 2/3 generations from one set of parents. I'm relatively new to putting my family research onto a software programme although I've been researching for well over 30 years now and therefore have a large amount of information. I am also chasing all lines and all members so I need to be able to print out more than 3 generations at a time. Can I do it in FH? Would be very grateful for some advice on this.

Rohaise,
I presume that you're looking at a diagram and that you can only see a couple of generations because that's the default.  There's no limit to the number of generations that can be displayed by Family Historian.

If you right click on the diagram and select 'diagram options' then the 'diagram options' dialogue box will open.  Make sure that the General Tab is selected (it usually is) and you should see Generations Up and /or Generations Down (it depends on the type of diagram).  Set them to 'All' and you should be OK.

You'll need to do this for every type of diagram.

I might have misread your post!

If you're interested in changing the number of generations a report prints than that too is possible - click options from the report page to open the report options dialogue, make sure that the Main tab is selcted and set an appropriate number in the box (the maximum is 100). Of course you can only do this with ancestor/descedant reports.

Many thanks Steve, that worked fine once I had found the Options page as it wasn't under Reports on the main toolbar.
