I think I have linked or merged two files, which has stuffed everything up,its doubled up on info and misslinked other stuff, and now I have coloured lines everywhere. Anyway of undoing this? It was so simple to do, but has been a nightmre. Ive tried to delete individual links but this stuffs things up further. HELP

You may be stuck here - unmerge doesn't exist (it is a file not a database). Going back to backups may be the answer I'm afraid[frown]

Simply restore your file from your backup prior to the merge. My guess is you did not check what FH had done as suggestions for the merge.

Hi Jennifer: did you perhaps add a first-cousin marriage? I did that recently and was sure something awful had happened, because I had duplications and coloured lines all over my diagram. In fact I hadn't realised they WERE cousins - I just clicked the 'link existing record as spouse' button, because I knew I already had the spouse on the list.
Took me ages to work out what had happened...but then I'm not getting any younger you know.

Unlinking and unmerging
One way to find out which are the recently added records is to look at the last update timestamp in each record. You've probably updated some original records, so it won't be foolproof, but it might allow you to get rid of most of the duplicate records.
Go the query window and select the 'Last Updated ....' queries. The first records in the list will be the most recently added/updated. You can save the query as a custom version where you can then add extra columns that might help identify the records fully.
BIG NOTE: I've not tried this, but I'm assuming (big assumption and knowing FH probably not valid) that FH will update the timestamp when it's merged in the data. If after you've carried out the query, the duplicate records aren't grouped together with a similar timestamp then it's not worked.
