I have search FHUG site for the answer to this but couldn't fine one.
I have a man (George Gates) who when his wife (Maria Sloss) died married her sister in Law (Emily).
Now Emily as well as her maiden name had her first husbands surname.
So (Emily)was, in order, Emily STRUDWICK. She then Married Thomas SLOSS, who died. She then married George GATES.
Is it possible to record these three surnames in FH?.
Also will Emily appear along side Maria in the tree diagram or will she only appear in her own tree?

The easiest thing is to try it. The women will all appear with their maiden names in the standard diagram, and people will appear with the appropriate spouses dependent on which branch (e.g. of children) you look at. Key is arranging the order on the tabs to get the marriages lined up appropriately.

I would make a mini-tree of just these three people until you learn how best to do this in FH to achieve the result you want

I have been at this most of the afternoon. Had some success got him with both spouses but then entered the first one is Emily Strudiwck/Sloss as follows;
Emily/Sloss/ formerly Strudick
and it didnt reject it.
Best I can do for the moment.

Although you are fine to do this if you really want to store the additional names (which is not standard practice) you would be better to perhaps use the all tab to add additional name fields to the person concerned.

All I would do for married woman is to record their maiden name in their name field, allowing the existence of a spouse to provide the married name and using a column/query to access additional surnames acquired by marriage.

But perhaps I am being a bit thick as I don't know how to 'use the all tab to add additional name fields to the person concerned'. I have viewed the ALL tab and it seems to have the same information as the Records Window. Also I am not sure what you mean by 'using the colunm/query to access additional surnames acquired by marriage'

Have you worked through the example in the file that comes with FH? I mean Programs->Family Historian->Getting the most from Family Historian; the first chapter goes through a man with two wives, this may help.

As to queries, I think that these take some getting used to and I would leave those until you are more adept at the basics of adding people and getting the data correct!
