Got a bunch of documents dated 1709-1790 of pretty poor quality, all written in Suetterlin writing.
p and z are for example characters which aren't easy to read especially if in combination with n and e.
A good example I run into this problem is the words 'Schenzz' or 'Schnepp'.
Using soundex codes doesn't help much since still one could use one or the other and this happens. And in Suetterlin handwritten these could be any of them.
What happened is the following. After some month of research, creating individuals I ended up with lots of duplicated entries which after re-reading the documents turned out to be the same family but weren't visible due to having differnt names.
One time I did use 'Schenzz' the other time I did read 'Schnepp'
I would rate it pretty usefull having some sort of a blacklist which would for example throw a notification box telling me that name1 was used n-times so far and name2 was used x-times.
Or that name1 was dropped in preference of name2 in the past.
Anyone with a comment on how to solve that ? Would it be interesting enough to file an entry in the wishlist ? Or am I the only one running into that problem ? Perhapse someone with a suggesting how to address this problem ?
