Hi Everyone. My first post., hopefully not the last.
I've not had Family Historian for long and is still getting to grips with it so please bare with me if I'm being a bit of a plonker!.
I have noticed something strange that occurs when I produce my family tree in diagram form.
The sequence I go through is: View-->Standard Diagrams-->Cousins-5th.
When I do this it keeps showing my half brothers and sisters as first cousins which is not the case.
When I go View-->Standard Queries-->Relations & 5 Nearest Relationships, it tells me correctly that my half brothers and sisters are in fact my half brothers and sisters.
Anyone know why it doesn't do this correctly when I go to a diagram?
Is it a bug or I'm I doing something daft?

Problem with Tree diagram
Hi,
Is it the all relatives diagram, centred on you?
Where does it say the relationship in the boxes or are you talking about the generations text down the side.
Try using the Text scheme for Dates and how related and see what that says.

Problem with Tree diagram
I take it that you're talking about the 'Relationship Description' that appears down the side diagrams. As Jane says, if you use a text scheme, such as 'Names, Dates, How Related' which puts the relationship into the box, you should find that that gives the right result.
The fact that Relationship descriptions are wrong for 'half' relatives is a known issue. In fact, if you look at the section 'Relationship Descriptions' on the last page of the Quick Start Tutorial, you will find it mentioned there. The problem arises because for diagram layout reasons (primarily) it was though to be convenient to put half relatives on the same row as other relatives who are slightly more distantly related from the root (e.g. half-sibs line up with cousins). We did consider having the relationship description say 'Cousins and Half-Siblings'. But to be strictly accurate we would also have had to relabel all other rows too, because they are all potentially affected. Instead of '1st cousins 1x removed' you would have had to have '1st cousins 1x removed and Half-Uncles/Aunts'. A bit of a mouthful. I think the best solution would be to align half-siblings with siblings and half-uncles with uncles etc. That is on the Wish List - our own one I mean. I can't remember off-hand if its on the FHUG one. If not, you might like to add it.

Yes, it was the text on the side that was showing duff info. Will try to change it so it appears in the box instead. many thanks for your help.[grin]
