Sources linked to individuals

Post by Anthony » 26 Nov 2007 12:52

I have been able to find the linked sources for chosen individuals but would like to produce a query or report that would show which sources are linked to which individual for the whole database.  I want to be able to do this without having to go through the laborious task of looking at each individual or each source to find the links.

So far I have not been able to find anything within the standard software or within the downloads section.  Can it be done?

I can't think of anything directly, as you have discovered you have the records linked to source query which lists all the people linked to a specific source and all the standard reports can list all the sources linked to each person, if you use the individual summary and move the sources to the end of each person, this would be close. I would have thought how ever you do it there is going to be a lot of paper, what where you actually trying to check?

Good morning Jane

I have looked at the Individual Summary Report and modified it to give me a name and a source but as you say it gives 44 pages.  This includes those in my family tree without a citation source.

What am I trying to achieve?  I would like to have a report which gives me the name of the source with a list of those records to which this source is linked.

For example

Fred Bloggs
Birth certificate ref
Marriage certificate ref
Census ref 1
Census ref 2
and so on

Does that make sense?

I want to be able to check that the sources are linked to the correct individuals from a printed report rather than go through each individual within the software.  Maybe I am going to have to use the modified report on screen and do it that way.

Thanks for your help.  I will add that I think Family Historian is a great piece of software.  I used Brother's Keeper before.

I think you can fine tune the summary report, try removing the new page on each record if you have not already done so.
