Hi all,
Is anyone able to decipher the name of the daughter of Thos & Mary White who was baptised 16th May. It looks lie Tamimane but that is a new one to me. Any offers.
Thanks -- Peter E

Hi Peter - the nearest I can come up with is a possible variation on Thomas, the fathers name - try looking in sites specialising in baby names for Tomasina or similar. I have often spent hours trying to decipher such names - Good Luck

Alan: that is exactly what I thought when I saw it last night before I went to bed. Tommasine or Tommina are possible and a quick search on the IGI at FamilySearch.org for first name Tommasine or Tommina in the British Isles, does return a number of variants.
Finding a burial or marriage or other reference for the person might be the only way to be sure.

I think it starts with Tam... (looking at how the 'a' is written in bap.) so, referring to my dictionary of English Christian Names I think, as Nick suggested, that it is a variation of Tamasine - maybe Tamasane.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I hope to be visiting the relevant County Record office soon so I shall see if I can find a marriage for that person and then maybe I shall be able to decipher the name.

Hi all,
As a follow up to my enquiry, I have just visited the Bucks local study centre and searched for a marriage for this person to see if I could decipher that entry.
I did find a marriage and the name was clearly Tamima, so maybe what was on the baptism record was a different spelling of that ie Tammima.
However it's a new name to me.
