Moving photos to new folders

The photos linked to individuals on my family tree (FH v3.1.2) are saved all over the place on the hard drive of my PC (due to my lack of foresight!) and I want to tidy them up into a single Folder for Photos and Sub-folders for each family. However, when I move a photo to a new folder the link to it in FH is broken - it doesn't follow the photo to its new location. Any suggestions to avoid having to go through the lot and crating new picture links to the new folder locations?

You need to use the Work With External File link tool to tell FH where you have moved the files to.
Just select the option from the Tools menu, and hit F1 for instructions.

The 'Work with External File Links' dialog does sometimes confuse people.
But it's actually much simpler than it seems. You know where the Pictures
really are, and 'Work with External File Links' shows you where Family
Historian *thinks* they are (i.e. what its links are pointing at). All you
have to do is make sure that these match - either by moving the pictures on
your hard disk or (as in the example above) by using the 'Move' and 'Rename'
buttons to modify Family Historian's links. Bear in mind that when you
select a folder and click 'Move' or 'Rename' in the 'Work with External File
Links' dialog, you aren't moving or renaming a folder, you are modifying all
Family Historian's links that include that folder as part of the link.
