Probate

Post by davidb » 23 Aug 2007 23:01

Every time I enter a probate date I get the message 'Entered date is later than the individual's date of burial. Is this intended?' Well, yes it is, for the reason given below. Also, the text wording for a probate event is 'He had his estate probated on (date)'.
    To me, probate has always meant the proving of a will, which can only take place after the will-maker's death - so how 'HE had his estate probated' is a bit of a mystery to me!
     It seems that to FH, probate means something different to what I take it to mean. Can someone enlighten me please?

I think it's just a slight problem with the program, as it checks all events are between birth and death dates. Probate probably needs exception coding which it does not have at the moment.

Thanks, I'm glad I wasn't barking up the wrong tree. But why the strange  wording for this event in the default fact set?

The default is
{individual} had {his/her} estate probated {date} {place}

Obviously you can change it if you want.
