Ability to move boxes (and branches) of diagrams

Post by mcws » 02 Jan 2004 19:45

Who else needs to move boxes around on diagrams to fit as much as possible on a page? There are only 22 votes for this on the wish list - I have just added mine.

This has grown to very high importance for me over the last few days as I have tried to produce nice illustrations for a family history book. It is more important to me than things like a book report which I see has got 58 votes. I cant imagine that Simon will be able to offer me the power to write a book which will be interesting to my general readers. But I digress...

I have managed to edit diagrams by copying the diagram as a bitmap (thanks to that new feature of 2.2) and pasting into photoshop and cutting and pasting bits of the image. But it would be really timesaving to be able to do it directly in a diagram while in FH. If you could also save your diagram editing steps so that you could come back later for more edits that would be even better, but even without this feature the basic branch and box move facility but be a boon.

A nice-to-have addition would the ability to switch on a line to link cousin marriages in addition to turning off one of the two descendant branches, which one can do already with the expansion buttons.

How are you copying the diagram. Every time I try and do it 'copy' is grayed out. Help!

Many thanks

Dont use the EDIT drop down menu. Use the DIAGRAM one. The first item of this is COPY DIAGRAM... which opens a further dialog for you to specify the copy.
