Best Practice?

Post by andyspiller » 31 Dec 2003 12:32

Hi everyone.

We only purchased FH on Xmas Eve after extensive investigation into the packages available to migrate from Generations. What a pleasure to find a package with a sensible user group set up.

My question regards military records. In the group's experiance, what is the best way to record them in FH. I am talking about Medal Index Cards, Medal Roles, Career notes, CWGC X-refs, Battalion/Divisional notes etc etc etc

Hi,  personally I create a source for each 'set' of information.  Scanning the documents in and attaching them, to the source.

I then extract the information to related fields on the individual.  I know different people in the group have different methods, I keep notes small, so I would have 1 note for Battalion details and one for personal details.

You can see the way I split things by looking at
