trouble with two monitors

Post by kmh » 31 Dec 2003 04:13

I have a second monitor attached to my computer.  Often I maximize the FH window on the second monitor, and move the Properties dialog to the first monitor so it doesn't obscure the records or diagram.  Today I did this with version 2.2, then exited and started FH awhile later.  Although the splash screen appeared, the FH button did not appear on the task bar, and the FH window did not appear, so the application was unusable; but FH.exe was listed in Task Manager.  I tried every combination of setting the FH properties to run minimized, maximized, or normal, with the second monitor active or not, started FH with each combination, and nothing worked.  I tried increasing the display resolution on the first monitor, started FH, and it appeared.  I decreased the resolution again, started FH, and it did not appear and it never appeared again with various changes to the resolution on both monitors.  I checked the registry (which I had done previously but in the wrong place), and under HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCalico PieFamily Historian2.0Preferences (just in case anyone else has this problem) is a setting for Window Rect 0.  The numbers looked large, so I changed the setting to {0,0,0,0}, started FH, and it appeared.  This is an easily repeatable problem (which never happened with FH 2.1).

trouble with two monitors

Hi, I have managed to repeat the problem. FH is fine if you use it the otherway around which is what I do. Eg main program on the first monitor and the dialog on the second. It would not occur with 2.1 as it did not remember the window position. I know windows reports the position strangely on the second monitor. Thanks for the work around. I will highlight this one to Calico.
