When to include spouse in tree

Post by tonyt » 06 Mar 2007 05:41

Was wondering what guidlines people use to decide if a spouse of a tree member should be included in the family tree please?

I currently just put in either actually married spouses or unmarried spouses where there was a child

But i have a sister who has been married 3 times (1 divorced, 2 died) and she is now in a long term relationship. Not sure if he should be included though?

Any thoughts please?

Thanks
Tony

When to include spouse in tree

Personally, as a family historian, I put in all married spouses and any 'partners' who are lived with. As I am trying to record the lives of my ancestors and relations, if I was only interesting the the passing on of Genes then spouses of childless couples would not be needed.
