Baptism/Christening

Post by srbryant » 02 Mar 2007 14:17

With a sinking feeling I've realised I haven't been consistent when recording baptism/christening events, with a 50/50 split between the two. I'd like to make them all the same type of event so that queries etc would be easier to make. Is there an easy way of doing this, or do I need to plough through them all individually?

Thanks

Once you decide which you want to use, you can use a text editor, such as PSPAD, to do a search and replace, to replace

CHR with BAPM or BAPM with CHR

Remember though to backup your file first, and use the options to only replace whole words and be case sensitive.

Ah! Hadn't thought of tackling it like that. Worked like a dream.

Many thanks

Baptism/Christening

I had the same problem (what IS the differnce between baptism and christening?).

I went to the Event/Attribute list, clicked on More>>, clicked on Baptism then Properties, and modified the template to say 'christened' instead of 'baptised'.

Worked a treat. Now it doesn't matter which event I select (but actually I hid Baptism to shorten the length of the Events list).

I also changed 'resided' to 'lived' in the Residence attribute.
