No, not the underground, but those members of your tree who don't marry, or who have no children.
It would be very useful to have a way of showing that for a specific line, it terminates with that person / couple.
At present I give them a child of no known sex (so that it prints in a different colour), and name the child either NC (no children), or DMNC (didn't marry, no children). This allows me to look at a tree and know which lines to not bother pursuing.
Ideally it would be good to be able to draw a line under such an entry.
Perhaps if there were a check box for didn't marry (or have partners etc), then there could be a double line - no children assumed - if they married but had no children, then a single line might be appropriate.
thoughts welcomed...

P.S. - I thought that I had already added this to the wish list, but can see no sign of it, so presume that I thought it but didn't type it. If I did, please do wipe this!

One method could be to use a custom attribute.

David,
sounds a good idea, but having looked at this briefly (as it does seem logical), I am not quite sure how I would get the chart on screen and when printed to draw a line under someone for this purpose?

You can add a count of children to the family group as zero.
This can then be shown on one or the other of the spouses.
You could also use a query with the mark boxes option in the diagram to change the colour of all people with no children. See marking /cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=viewnews&id=57
