I am a novice user of FH version 2.3.5 and enjoy using its graphical editor to document my family tree.
My dilemma is that I often wish to define a sibling for an individual but have no info about their parents. At present, I am forced to always generate 2 redundant entries for the parents with unspecified names only so I can include a known sibling. As a result, my database is filling up with numerous individuals about whom I have no details.
So could anyone tell me please how to add a sibling without creating every time 2 extra parents first?

How to add a sibling?
I just create a father using just the surname of the siblings. There is no real need to create a mother. The father is just called '/Surname/', ie. with no given names.

Another option is show the parents for the child on the property dialog, don't enter any parents, but just add the sibling at the bottom. This will create a family as child record.
As Jon says you do not need to create both parents to use the graphic interface, just one parent will be enough.

I appreciate that 1 parent is sufficient, however I am hoping for a way to add a sibling with no parents at all !! Any ideas?
Meanwhile I like the property dialog suggestion so I'll try it from home tonight! Thanx Jane.[smile]

Jane's method works for me. Then they appear connected in diagrams, just with no parents.
