Error condition with upgrade to 2.2.1

Post by hambledonman » 16 Dec 2003 16:58

On trying to install new upgrade to 2.2.1 'I get an error occured during the move data process:-623'condition & process stops.  Have tried again but now get blocked again by the same error message.  Anybody know how I can fix this problem. This happens I think in the unzip stage but could be wrong on that & Oh!  Yes it's a XP system (Need I say more)

Could I suggest using Winzip to unzip the exe and then run the setup.exe directly.

Also double check your user is of Administration level.

It may also be worth redownloading the install, from the other site, just in case it is a corrupt download.

Thanks for the winzip tip tried that and I thought I had it installed but on going to 'about' it still shows I only have 2.1.6 installed from my original disc's.  I guess I am going to have to play with this problem some more and start a download from a different source and see what happens. Thanks Jane! and nothing comes easily to me! Inherit family passdown

I installed it onto an XP system without any problems.

Perhaps an idea would be to uninstall/reinstall your current version and then try the upgrade.

Thanks David! I guess I will have to do it the hard way again. But hate losing all that documentation and having to import again from paper. As it took me 2 days off and on to get to where I am now. But as I said nothing comes easily to my family.

You should not lose the data you have input if you uninstall, just make sure you have a backup on a floppy disk or even in your my documents folder. Installing and re-installing should sort the problem. You might lose a few diagram settings, but that should be all. Just double check your user is at admin level.

Thank you to Jane & Dave.  For the suggestion to re-instal software again as I now have the upgrade installed and looking forward to using. It's nice to have this support out there, and from the reviews I have been reading looks like you have added a winner of an update here![wink]
