Is there an easy way to ommit having a spouse picture being shown in the child section of a family page in case the child got no pic at all ?
Looks pretty strange if it says:
Child Maria
followed by a pic showing a male.
That the pic contains the note Spouse named Wilhelm doesn't help much.
But of course it should be shown if the child got a pic itself.

Or is there an easy way to add a dummy multimedia object to a group of selected records, since if so I could link a dummy object indicating a missing pic to the more but 2000 records not having any pics. But it'll also be important that these won't show up in diagrams, means I must also be able to mass-declare these to be used only in reports.

I don't think you can do this automatically.
You can configure any picture to be excluded from Reports and/or diagrams so once done you do not need to remove them.

I would :-

Create a query to find all persons who do not have a picture but their spouses do. I would do two one for females and one for males so I could use different 'dummy pictures'

Create a multimedia picture for each.

Add the picture to the first person, setting the exclude flag for diagrams.

Select the multimedia fields from the records window on the person just created and copy to clipboard then paste on to each person.

I know you have 2000 people, but if your data is like mine I tend to have only a few where I have a picture for just one spouse, it tends to be both or none.

Brilliant idea to only do it for the ones where a spouse pic does exist.
Wonder why always the more complicated solution springs to my mind ;-)

thanks a lot ...
