how to mass delete ...

Post by justone » 24 Dec 2006 11:46

Needed to re-think my strategy on how to name and set up my source documents.
Now to not get it all mixed up I descided to remove all sources and multimedia objects within FH and add them the new way I wanted them to be.
So I selected the relevant sources opened the context menu awaiting to see an entry 'delete'. no way. I then reached for the menu ... no way.
Same for the multimedia objects.

any idea no how to delete some 300 sources without having to go through them 1 by 1 ?

apart from that .. a merry x-mas to all genealogy-fanatics

1. Make a safe copy of your file.
2. Go to spit tree helper
3. Use the delete all source records and multimedia options.

Another option for someone wanting to delete a lot, but not all records is to add the records for deletion to a named list and then use the option on the lists menu to delete name list items.

To delete a single [or a few] source or multimedia records you can simply highligh the record and then press the delete key on your keyboard. You are then asked to confirm your wishes before finally deleting the record.

I did it that way, actually .. eg. using DEL ENTER DEL ENTER DEL ENTER DEL ENTER and I did wonder what gets broken first. The fingers or the keyboard ;-)
