I also keep pictures of places as well as photos of people and scans of certificates. My question is, how and where do others link such pictures of places. For example I have churches, houses and even old maps of villages etc.
Any help appreciated.

I also want to do this .I tried using notes for a place but could not link to any pictures. This would be very useful as a place can be just as important as a person.Just a thought maybe you could make a record of a place instead of a person and keep some of the info like that?[grin]

I think currently it would be suggested that you use a source for a place and then you can link this source to any events as required. A source can have any number of images.
However, in the Wishlist on this site 'Attach multimedia to a place' is currently at number 4 in the voting and so I wouldn't be surprised (but have no inside knowledge!) if this gets implemented sometime in the next year or two. I'd suggest voting for this if you haven't already. Personally I am going to wait for this to be implemented rather than start linking in places to sources as it might be a bit of a pain to have to change to the new system from a different one.

I link them to whatever event or attribuute seems to make sense e.g. a church used for a wedding I'd link to the Marriage Event, a gravestone picture to the Buried event.
I also scan source documents but treat these differently and link them to the Source record rather than the Indivdual/Family.
Hope this helps.
