Tree Titles
I have been using FH for about 2 years. In that time I have had several trees. When I click onto file to open my tree, I have all the titles of my previous trees there. How do I delete them?

I presume you are still using V2.
With V2 the titles always show from previous ones unless you remember to untick the save as default.
From memory on V2, you can just right click on the diagram and untick the text boxes.

Hi Jane. I've tried right clicking on them, but nothing comes up.

No right click anywhere on the empty area of the diagram, you should have an option in the diagram menu for titles. It may be on the main diagram menu as well, this bit changed in V3 and I don't have V2 installed to be able to check.

I found diagram defaults Jane, but there is'nt an option to delete any of the tree titles. I'll just have to learn to live with them.

Have had a reply to my e-mail that I sent to FamilyHistorian support. The old file titles cannot be deleted, so I will just have to live with them as at the moment I cannot afford to upgrade to v3.

Hi
I think you're both possibly talking at cross-purposes. I think when Barrie says 'trees' he means family tree files - whereas Jane thought he meant tree in the diagram sense. From Barrie's email to me, I believe he/you are actually talking about the list of previously-opened files at the bottom of the File menu - is that right Barrie?
I have just replied to Barrie's email. The answer was:
>> When you say 'trees', I presume you are talking about the list of family tree data files that you see at the bottom of the File menu? The last 4 files that you have opened are shown there. Many programs - not just genealogy programs - work like this. There is no mechanism to delete them as such - most people don't worry about the list. As the list only shows 4 files, if you open new files, old entries drop off the bottom of the list - and that way entries for files that don't exist eventually get removed. If it bothers you, the only thing you can do is open 4 different files that do exist, and the ones that don't will get bumped off the bottom of the list. <<
