All my photos, linked to individuals, are stored on a CD. When I load the CD and call up a diagram from FH the photos
displayed on the diagram are haphazard, ie some individuals have photos displayed whilst others do not. What am I doing wrong?

I suspect the CD is probably not keeping up with the read requests.
Personally I would never keep the photos linked to FH on CD, I prefer to keep them all in a subdirectory under my .ged file so I can backup and move all the data together. In my experience CD's are too easliy damaged to be used as the main storage method when they will be in and out of the drive all the time. Better in my opinion to use them purely for backup purposes.

This item raises for me some interesting matters. Firstly where is the best area on a pc to link photos to; secondly, how many photos per individual do most FH users find helpful and thirdly do people find it helpful to have a folder just with scans of certificates, census entries etc?
Lastly thanks to all who responded regarding 1837online. I have subscribed and it has been good so far.
Thanks

I have a folder with my documents called
Family History
my main gedcom file lives in there.
Below that I have a series of folders containing various items eg
Census
1831uk
1841uk
1851uk
1861uk
etc . . .
Certificates
Photos
Letters
etc
This way I can copy all the information off when I need to and I know that the contents of the folder are self contained so everything linked to my gedcom file is in the same place.
This means I have a couple of copies of some photos on my computer, but it makes it easier for me to handle my Family history and share it. My main (non family history) photo folders have somewhere in the region of 15,000 photos in them.

Hi Jane. Thanks for the advice. I am now storing the appropriate photos in a dedicated file in my Family Historian folder and it works a treat.
Many thanks.
Neil
