Another newbie.
1. Were all Births registered in PR's before 1837.
2. Does anyone know of a website showing maps of Parish Districts.

Baptisms were recorded, but not all took place in Parish Churches, there were many non-conformist baptisms. Some parish records include Dissenter births (where the vicar was aware a child was born but had not baptised it). Some children were probably never recorded.

Further to Irene's comments you will sometimes find that baptisms have the birth date recorded, it varies from place to place and in my experience is far less likely the further back in time you go. Although most baptisms did take place soon after the birth, you will sometimes find baptisms happening years after the birth, e.g. the family taking a 'job-lot' of their children off to be baptised together. This makes research prior to BMD and census far more difficult. However, luckily most children were baptised and so research is usually still possible.

2Q's on PR's
Remember that people are not alwaysd baptised where they're born. It's often the mother's home parish, and sometimes I suspect a preference for some other religious persuasion rather than the local parish church.

I have found several occasions where the baptism entry also records the date of birth.
If you are really lucky, the entry will be written in Dade style - this system was common in Yorkshire for a time. This also lists the mother's maiden name and also the names and parishes of the fathers of ther parents- you get 3 generations in one go.
In some cases, the baptism is not until they are much older.
On one family I found, all the children were baptised in one go - whilst the youngest was aged 2, the eldest was 21, and he was baptised 2 weeks before he got married.
My grandmother was baptised when she was 16, but I already knew her birth details.
