When I add multiple spouses to an invididual and generate a diagram with everyone in my tree, the spouse is listed away from the main tree at the bottom of the diagram. I understand that this new spouse is a new family but can additional spouses be drawn next to each other in a dragram? Maybe I fundamentally missing a concept?
Feedback appreciated.

Can you post an example?
I find normally spouses are drawn next to thier partners. Do you have center under parents set, this is one reason I can think this might happen, or where there are many children for the 'first' marriage. Here is a second marrige example from my tree

I assume you are using an Everyone Diagram and have a situation like one of the ones I have shown here.
Sam Davis had two wives and had children with each of them. For his first wife Rachel Brighton, I have details of her father Mike. Sam's second wife Patricia Liverpool had previously been married to Dave Swindon and they had a daughter. When you generate an Everyone Diagram it is in fact a set of Descendant Trees, which get placed one above the other. I don't know how Family Historian decides which is at the top and which is at the bottom, but generally the largest is at the top. In my example it has placed Descendant Trees for Sam Davis, Mike Brighton and Dave Swindon. What you have to do then is use the Movement Control Box to drag the individual trees to a position where you are happy with them. Chapter 8 of the manual explains how to do this. By moving the trees you can get an arrangement like this.
Alternatively you could use an All relatives Diagram, which is not the same as an Everyone but it may include the people you are interested in and has the spouses on one line. This is an All Relative for Anne Davis, but it doesn't show Mike Brighton as he is not related to Anne, he is the father of her father's first wife.
If you want to add some of the missing people to an All Relative, you can use Insert into Diagram to add an Ancestor Tree for Rachel Brighton which will then bring in her father. Again use the Movement Control Box to position this extra tree.
You can even move the Tree so that the two boxes for Rachel Brighton are positioned one on top of the other so it appears to be only one box.
A word of warning with this, the Trees are still two separate Trees in this case and will grow independently as you add people to them. If you later add another child to Rachel and Sam for instance the box for Rachel will move right to keep centred over her children and you will need to redo the tree move to align the two boxes for her again.
I strongly recommend reading the relevant chapters in the manual, in fact it is worth doing the tutorial which is well written and guides you through the features of the program without boring you to death. The Diagrams in Family Historian are very flexible, so it's really a case of what do you want to show.
