I wish to do a narrative report of one line of descent or ascent but I always get the whole lot. I dont find the instructions very clear. Can someone advise.

I don't think you can, unless you use split tree on a copy of the file. To strip out the rest of the tree.

I have added two custom queries in the downloads section (line of descent and line of ascent). You can use either of them to specify a start and end person and it will list all of the people in the direct line including the start and end. You can then either add a flag to the results set to highlight them on a diagram or add them to a named list. When you go to create your narrative report, use the Named Lists tab, scroll to the named list you put the results of the query into and press the >> button to select them all. You report will then only include these specific individuals.
