Specific people nbsp;diagrams able to be saved

Post by akirk » 22 Nov 2003 13:00

I find editing my tree through the diagram window extremely intuitive, it is the main reason I bought Family historian.

I would very much like to be able to save specific views on diagrams

i.e. if I have a tree displayed in the diagram window of a descendant tree based on a particular person, I would like to be able to save that, so that next time I load the software, I can go to the menu and immediately return to that view of my tree - back to a descendant tree based on the same person.

Just as a work around. I keep a list of key people so that at any time I can click on the person in the list then on the diagram button on the icon bar to just directly to a diagram of the person I want.

Thank you for the suggestion - yes this works for now, but maybe not quite as neat as being able to move from one to the other via the menu once in a diagram - it seems to be necessary to return to the records window first.

I acknowledge that there are many good reasons why the record window is the dominant window in the software, but for some editing through the graphical view is easier...

I would also like to be able to save specific diagrams, particularly when I have made changes, such as shutting down branches and changing the default text. If I save as custom diagram, all these changes are lost when I re-open it.

Added to the Wish List as
Custom Diagrams to remember more settings.

Jane,

Thank you for adding this, though with the new version just out, it does seem mean to be asking for more!

Well we might as well make sure that this package is even better - after all it is such a treat to have software written for the genealogist, not just to sell web services...
