Displaying addresses in reports

Post by sadlerandskipper » 09 Jun 2006 14:45

Hi, When I've entered a home address in the 'address' line of a burial event, the 'additional info' line on reports only prefixes it with 'address' if I have also entered data in the notes field, but not otherwise.  Is there a reason for this and how can I overcome it?

Thanks[smile]

Displaying addresses in reports

I have just tried this and have 'Burial' then the address on the individual summary.

Personally I would have put this address into a residence attribute with the same date and source as the burial rather than in as an address for the burial, which I would expect to be an address for the church or cemetery.

Thanks Jane,
I see your point but the only way I can get the name and address of the church to appear as I want it on diagrams I have to put the whole lot in the place line. I want the 'address' to show the home address on reports but this way it looks as if they were buried at home!

Why will 'address' appear in the additional info when I have added a note, e.g. 'Plot 37' but not otherwise?

I am not with you, you can always add an address line to a diagram.

When I add an address of any sort to a Burial event it shows on the reports.

What I actually want to happen is for the prefix 'address' to appear in the additional information line prior to the actual address, e.g.

If for a birth I enter:

(place) London Hospital
(address) 50 High Street
(note) Living with grandparents

the additional info will show:

Living with grandparents
Address: 50 High Street

Which is great. But if I don't insert anything in the (note) section I get:

50 High Street

I don't always have a note to insert so I don't always get my prefix. Obviously the same applies to all events with similar info.

I hope I have made myself a bit clearer. Any help which doesn't involve my going through all my 4000 entries would be great.

Thanks.

Hello sadlerandskipper

I haven't been able to reproduce what you're describing, but I suspect I'm looking at the wrong thing. You talk about reports in your first posting but about diagrams in the second. In F.H. these are quite different. Can you say exactly which diagram or report you are using? If a diagram, which text scheme you are using (assuming it's an unmodified standard one?).
