Greetings all,
after moving boxes within one generation to align them horizontally, how do I get the generation stripe width to reduce in line with the reduced vertical space the generation now occupies?

I have never tried to be honest, when I do lots of moving I tend to turn off the generation stripes.

Jane,
thanks for your response - I have seen reference elsewhere to a setting governing 'rows per generation'. Where is this setting?

I think because of the way V3 optomises the All Rel diagram the number of rows has gone. The diagram design even on V2 was a min of 2 lines per generation though.
If you use the hour glass chart you will get 1 row per generation, but obviously less information about each generation.

Generation stripe width in all relatives diagram
Jane,
thanks for that explanation regarding the 'rows per generation' setting.
The root cause of this inability to compact the All Relatives tree seems to be the fact that when the tree is first generated, the vertical positions of the subject and direct ancestors are determined by the number of rows in each generation, which is in turn determined by the number of sets of cousins in each generation.
The subject and direct ancestors are then fixed in vertical alignment and therefore the width (I suppose I should say height really) of the generation strip is also fixed, even if the rest of the boxes in that generation are manually aligned in a manner which would allow the generation separation to be reduced.
This seems to me to be a serious weakness in an otherwise useful diagram.
Is it intentional?

I am not the author of the program only a user like yourself.
V3 is the first version to allow box movement, so the generation stripes may need adjustment, as I said I turn the stripes of so have not played with them much.
