Having searched everywhere that I know I cannot find the meaning of the word 'hundred' which appears on the 1841 census record.
Can anyone explain please

It appears that, originally, a 'hundred' was a division of an English (not sure about Welsh and totally doubt Scottish) County that contained a hundred families.
This is from my Chambers Dictionary at work.
This would leave me to believe that each 'hundred' could be totally different in size/area, depending on population density.
