Query output sorted by multiple columns

Post by RuthE » 22 May 2006 12:25

I often want to sort queries outputs by more than one column.
Current default assumes that if more than one column is set to sort, it sorts by the first output column then the second.

I want to be able to sort by example column 4 then column 1 then column 2 (I know this is available in Excel, but I would prefer to work in the query window)

Query output sorted by multiple columns

You can 'work around' this by clicking on the column tops in inverse order.

So click on the lowest sort column then the next lowest. I think the Query window is the same records window in this respect.

Thanks for that reminder Jane - efficient as always!

I've just gone back and fiddled with my query, and have added in some hidden columns so that it sorts in the sequence I want. I'm quite pleased with it, so might be posting into the query store sometime soon.
