I am trying to get the christening date shown in a box, but only when there is no birth date. I have ticked the 'only output if previous line blank' but this does not seem to do what it says i.e. I get both birth AND christening if I have both. I also want to do the same for death & burial

I think there is a slight problem with the Blank test on complex lines, which I have passed on to Calico

Try using
%INDI.BIRT% for the birth line and
%INDI.DEAT% for the death line rather than the complex default one.

Please let me know if this solves the problem.

I have done a bit more experimenting and there is only a problem when you use the all instances option

Simply remove the 1+ as below
Died: %INDI.DEAT.DATE:COMPACT% in %INDI.DEAT.PLAC:TIDY%

Jane - many thanks, that worked fine. I took all instances of [1+] out of the text, and I have now got what I wanted.
