Ancestors Signatures

Post by wyerd » 08 May 2006 17:35

I have my grandfathers Birthday Book, where he listed his friends & relatives birthdays. He asked them to enter their name next to the appropriate day, so I have a record of their signature, including my G-G-grandfathers.

My question is, how do I record this in FHV3? I've scanned each page where an entry appears, but some pages have 2 or more names as per attached file.

Thanks,
David.

Surely thats just the same as a photo with multiple people, just link to the relevant section of the page as you would to link to a face.

Thanks for the quick reply Jane!

I wouldn't need to create a source record? Just insert a link to the picture file?

You could attach them to sources as well, but personally I think I would only do this if I was using it to 'prove' a date of birth.

You can link part of a picture to a source if you need to in the same way as you add a link to an individual

I have a problem now with the diagram as it's displaying the very long signature next to the text. Is there a way of reducing the size of signature image of this entry?

Thanks.

You can obviously set signatures not to show on diagrams which I suspect is probably the simplest fix for this for now. At the moment FH controls the maximum height rather than width so very wide thin selections don't work well.

Just set the option on the media window to omit the image from the diagram.

That's it! Took some finding though. I'm still amazed how powerful this package is. Well worth it.

Thanks.
