Printing problem V4

Post by oldbirkonian » 30 Apr 2006 11:16

Just moved to v3 - but that may be a red herring. When I try to print, on my HP Laserjet 1022 b/w printer, a multipage std diagram (such as a 'view descendants') after page 1 I receive the MS Error Message 'Spooler Subsystem has encountered a problem and needs to close'. This problem doesn't seem to arise when I print from other applications (eg Word, Excel etc) nor did it occur when I used FHv2. Has anyone else had this problem? Can't imagine not 'telling' FH I was using a b/w printer would affect this?

Any suggestions, remedies or shared experience would be appreciated. Peter

The first thing to try is upgrading the printer driver. I note that a new driver was released for this printer in September of last year. The driver is here:

I also assume that you have tried rebooting your computer and printing it again. Sometimes one of the background services can fail and this can cause problems such as the one you report. This is usually resolved by a reboot.

Thanks for the suggestion. Re-booting did not remove the problem nor has a system restore before the date of installing FH v3 (of course it's v3 not 4, my mistake.)

I'll install the new driver and see how that goes.  Otherwise it looks like I need to get a registry guru to clear any unnecessary subkeys as per MS Article 324757.
