Conditional Entries On Diagrams

Post by sadlerandskipper » 24 Apr 2006 08:33

Hi, I want to be able to show the full birth/death address on diagrams, defaulting to the place if no address is available. I've resorted to entering the place in the addresss field (as well as in the place field) to ensure it appears on the diagram, but then have it twice on reports. Is there a way of choosing what appears in the additional information under 'Individual Events & Attributes' in the report?

If you are using V3, you can condition lines on the diagrams based on the existance of an earlier line, so if address null show place otherwise show address.

What I do with addresses and places is for example

Place Ilminster, Somerset, England
Address 15 High Street

That way the two fields make the complete address and you don't get too much repeated data.

Have a look at 'Understanding Functions' in the online help.
I've been playing with the NotExistsText function to display the Census address if no residence address is present.
From what I can see it is normally used  for conditional text but it works with expressions as well.

So something like this displays the last Census Place if there isn't a Residence:

Code: Select all

=NotExistsText(%INDI.RESI[<99].PLAC:TIDY%,%INDI.CENS[<99].PLAC:TIDY%)
I imagine you could do the same for Address and Place.
