Children's marriages in Family Group Sheet

Post by SabineS » 16 Apr 2006 18:51

I believe I had invented a solution for this problem, but lost the specifications when upgrading to V3.

In the children's sections of the Family Group Sheet, we do have information about their spouses (if any). I would, however, also like to have the child's marriage date and place in that section, in addition to the individual events like birth, death etc.

Is there a way to do that?

I knew I had a way! Sorry for bothering anyone.

It needs to be added in the section 'Family Member Main Items' in the Record Options, Contents tab.

You can add the marriage event to the main family members items in the report options.

I guess you did not the standard report in V2 with out saving it as a custom one, so it was overwritten during the upgrade.

Children's marriages in Family Group Sheet

Post by SabineS » 21 Dec 2006 13:51

I'm having problems with this one again in v. 3.1:

Wanting to list ALL marriages of an individual in this person's section of the Family Group Sheet, I had defined five marriage events (labelled marriage, marriage2, marriage3, etc.) in the Contents/Family Member Main Items section. Which was not a very elegant way to do it, but it worked.

Marriage 2, for example, looks like this:
with %INDI.~SPOU[2]>NAME[1]% (=LifeDates2(%INDI.~SPOU[2]>%)), %INDI.FAMS[2]>MARR[1].DATE:COMPACT%, %INDI.FAMS[2]>MARR[1].PLAC%
And the whole thing was set as 'show if not empty'.

Under v. 3.1, I just found out, this does not work any more. Whatever I do, whether I set it as 'always show' or 'show if not empty', the Family Group Sheet always lists five lines of marriages, i.e. all defined lines, even if the person was married only once.

Having learned in the meantime that '1+' in the data references can do interesting things, I tried to include only one line for all marriages, like this:
with %INDI.~SPOU[1+]>NAME[1]% (=LifeDates2(%INDI.~SPOU[1+]>%)), %INDI.FAMS[1+]>MARR[1].DATE:COMPACT%, %INDI.FAMS[1+]>MARR[1].PLAC%

That, however, did not work, I never get more than the first marriage with that line.

What can I do?
