Direct line (custom) query

Post by petwenbol » 13 Apr 2006 19:26

When I create a direct line (custom) query 1 or 2 completely unrelated names usually appear at the top of the list. They are often the same people whatever the list I have created.
Has anyone else had the same problem or know why it is happening ?

Direct line (custom) query

Have you by any chance used resprivata ?
If you have, and have failed to tick the remove picture sound and text links, well then all sorts of wierd things will have happened to your privatised file.
Not worked out what exactly happens, but something along the lines of, all links to above files are added to (in my case, to the last family added as uncategorised data entries against them) !!  so when I ran a query on say for instance a Custom ID, it listed the correct entry, plus the entries for the last family, simply because the custom ID had been added to them as a uncategorised data entry from in my case a link to a photograph that listed the custom ID.

As I said, I have not figured out why it does it, but I know it does, and it is predictable.
And as you say, the same people will show up in every query, as they have all of the uncategorised data added to them in the gedcom file.

If you tick the remove picture sound and text file links when you run resprivata, the problem will go away.

This is not a problem with FH v3 it is a problem with Resprivata. Assuming you are experiencing the same problem I did.

I have found that the query engine in FH is extremely good and as far as I can see faultless.

hope this helps.
