Can anyone help? my great grandmother gave birth to twins between 1904 & 1914 but they died either during birth or straight after before the midwife arrived - my great grandmother lived somewhere remote. How can I find out about them would they have been logged as a birth then death on the registers at that time, if they were I guess she could have named them or just called them whatever sex they were?[rolleyes]

I suggest looking for the births first. If they were registered it would have been at the same time so they will end up with either the same District, Volume and Page reference in the index or the page numbers will be one apart as they will be last on one page and first on the next. All you can do is work your way through the indexes for the years you mention. FreeBMD claims 100% coverage of births up to March 1910 so you could do your first search of all births with that surname from Mar 1904 to Mar 1910. If you don't know the registration district then you may have to do the search one year at a time. After that I would recommend looking at the indexes on http://www.ancestry.co.uk for the remaining years.
If you find the births, look for deaths in the same quarter and District as the births.
