Override Text

Post by TimM » 30 Mar 2006 17:28

In V2 we had a very easy way to override text in a diagram whereby you could overtype most, if not all, text with some temporary alternative, (re page 70 of the old manual).
With V3, the manual (still page 70) talks about using a Record Flag and setting a condition in the text scheme.
Could this be explained in more detail please? I don't see where you would enter your overriding text!
Thanks
Tim

I think Calico thought.

You can permanently attach the text as an attribute or note and use a record flag to always use the alternate text for that person.

Could you please give a more detailed and idiot-proof explanation of these flags. I've got as far as being able to make flags, and associate or disocciate records from them, but can't see what to do now, in terms of making an individual's box look different in a diagram. I was trying also to get rid of the picture in one box, because it is an image of a page from a will, and like most pictures of documents, is not a lot of use in this context and looks out of place. Sorry to be so thick...

Incidentally, on this tack, there isn't a way now of controlling the size of individual images in reports now, is there (for the same reason that I would like to be able to greatly increase the size of the pictures if they are images of documents, but at the same time keep portraits at a sensible size?

Thanks for your continuing excellent support.

Have you read the section of the new manual on this. Controling text on diagrams is covered around page 70, (84 in acrobat) of the manual.

This is the same as for version 2, simply go to the multimedia for the picture and in the left handside click on the link and tell it not to use in diagrams.

Personally I always attach document images to sources so do not have this problem as source image sizes are controled separatly. I think my solution would be to leave the small documents in the reports and then print an appendix with the large versions of the documents in.
