Exporting from FH to Clooz

Post by lpholt » 24 Oct 2003 01:40

I now have Clooz software, and it says that the first thing you must do is export your individuals from your genealogy program (in my case FH) to Clooz. For this it advises checking out your genealogy software's export instructions. Okay, FH, how do I do it? I hope there is a simple way, because I'm not good with the complicated stuff.
Thanks

Exporting from FH to Clooz

I had a quick look at the web page for Clooz and I believe you need to create a list of people usign the Query Tool in FH and save it as a CSV file.

I have created a query which should do the required task. You will need to download it from the Query Store and then run the Query and use the Save option on the Query to save the file to import into Clooz.

When you save the file select the Comma separated option, and ensure include column headings is ticked. The file should be fine to export into Clooz as long as not of your people have commas or ' in thier names.

There are instructions in the FH manual if you need more help on exporting data.

Exporting from FH to Clooz

Hi Jane;
I'm sorry to be such a pain after you were so quick to reply, but there's still a problem.  I went to the query store and tried to download the query.  No matter what I do, A new FH screen without any files on it opens and I get a FH dialog box that says 'Unable to open C:Documents and SettingsTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE56HEHMHCXClooz Export [1].fhq. File not found.'  Then it won't let me do anything else except close the whole thing. I've tried with my regular family tree open and closed, but nothing makes any difference.
I haven't got a clue what all that means.  Like I said, I'm into Family History, and social sciences.  Sorry, but I'm pretty slow when it comes to the techie stuff, but I am trying!

Thanks for your help, and quick support.

I don't think you read the instructions at the top of the Query Store.

You need to save the file to
c:program filesfamily historianqueriescustom directory, when you download it. I think you are some how opening the file with family historian, rather than saving it.

If you then open Family Historian normally the query will appear in the drop down list for you to select.

You will need to read very carefully the import instructions for Clooz as when I looked at the program I found it very fussy on importing data.
