Family Historian User Group

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a 'lost relative' in my tree.  This was an apprentice fisherman (aged 14) who is on the 1901 Census as being on board ship off the coast near Grimsby.  I've searched for further information, and asked family members, but haven't been able to find any further reference to him.  There appears to be no death record either.  Hopefully someone here might be able to steer me in the right direction to find more information on him.

Have you checked the overseas death records? I had trouble finding the death record for my uncle whose plane crashed in the sea off the Yorkshire coast in 1940. It seems that if the person died in international waters, then they are recorded as having died overseas.

I used http://www.1837online.com which is a pay-to-view service. If you haven't used this site before, the overseas records are separate and once you've done your search you pay to view each of the resulting index pages. If you find the right index page (the one containing the person you are looking for) then the entry will have an associated reference that you'll need when you order the certificate.

The indexes are arranged by quarter, by the way.
