Buying Version 3 nbsp;- Advice please

Hello

I am about to buy Version 3 Upgrade and it looks like I have 3 options:

My History
TWR Computing
S&N Genealogy

I've never used any of these people before and want to know if anyone can point me in the right direction with recommendations, eg most efficient, most reliable, best value etc etc.

I may buy online but may just phone up and order. Will that make a difference with any of them.

Finally - are there any other shops that will sell the upgrade.

Thanks

Although it is my first time using TWR I am impressed so far they sent an e-mail when there was a delay to keep me informed and I have heard nothing but good reports about them from other users. I'll let you know for sure in the next few days when hopefully the new version will be shipped. To be fair I think all three of those are very reputable suppliers.

All the best,
Martyn

I've only bought from TWR and S&N and have had only good service from both, so I'm sure it is down to your own personal preferences.on that score.
In theory,TWR should receive stock of V3 today and I just hope my upgrade arrives before the week-end!

I have used both S&N and TWR and found them both efficient and helpful with queries.

Incidently TWR have changed their web site and say 'for delivery from 29th March' for Version 3.

I have never used any of these suppliers before, but I ordered version 3 from TWR. They charged my credit card in February despite their website stating that they would not charge until dispatch of the goods. They have not answered my Email complaining about this.
05/03/06 TWR have now contacted me by phone and will send me the answers by post as there must be an email problem somewhere down the line. I received the upgrade promptly.
07/03/06 I have now received a full explanation from TWR.

Apart from being a customer I have no link with TWR so I have no brief to talk on this subject but I think I can explain what happened. Apparently the card companies changed the rules for online purchases so that the 3 digit security code now has to be entered as part of any transaction. TWR expected that the updates would be completed before this change over but unfortunately this was not possible leaving with about three options; one to cancel all the old orders and let people re-enter them, not an option people who placed early orders would have liked, me included! To put the orders through before the deadline, which they thought was only going to be a few days before they had stock, this is what they did. The third option I can think of is that they contact all the people who placed orders and ask for the security code, something a lot of people would have been suspicious of and for a small company may have taken so much resource it could have delayed the shipments.

As far as I know this was a one off and I for me does not reflect badly on the company, but that is a personal view and you may not have feel the same.

I have found them very responsive as I say I had an e-mail to tell me about the delay but I nearly missed it as my spam filter had, wrongly, marked it as spam I don't know if the same e-mail went to a list and caused that.

As I say I have no connection with TWR other than as a customer and at first I was a bit miffed about the charging before shipment until I knew why and thought I'd just pass on that information.

I've used TWR and S&N and they are both excellent. I've got a different take on S&N as they responded to an email within 30 minutes today and haven't yet charged my credit card for an order placed at the end of last year (mind you I asked them not to - knowing what software delivery dates are like).

Why not give each a call and see what their stock position/order backlog is like. That might give you an idea as to which might be better if you're in a hurry for the upgrade

Thank you for all your replies. Have just ordered from TWR by telephone. Very helpful and friendly lady. She said she had managed to send out around 500 copies yesterday!!
