Currently the Census events I've entered (using Nick Walker's excellent utility) appear as separate sentences, i.e Joe Smith appears in the 1851 Census in someplace. On this date the address was somestreet in someplace. On this date he was doing something in someplace.
Is there an easy way of combining these sentences into one (e.g At the time of the 1851 census, Joe Smith was living at somestreet, someplace and was doing something), or am I just going to have to export to Word and edit the text by hand?
Also, is it possible to use the short or medium format for places like you can in the diagrams?
Any help/advice appreciated
Thanks

I suspect you'll have to do this manually. What the report is doing is taking each event and attribute, and turning it into a sentence. Because there is no concept of linked events/attributes, then it wouldn't know which ones to combine into a single sentence.
I gather V3 gives you more flexibility over the narrative reports, but doubt it will do this. Perhaps it should be on the Wish List.

FH can't combine events on reports.
You can tick the box to force FH to not repeat full place names so for the first event it will say Melbury Osmond, Dorset, England, but use Melbury Osmond until the place for the next event is different.
On V3, you can overide the text for each event, on an event by event basis. So you could change the sentences for later census so say as for 1851 census for example. Or to change the default sentence. Personally, I prefer to leave the generated report as is.

Thanks fot kind words
In version 3 it will be possible to have a single sentence which should link the place and the address of the event into a single sentence. However, the occupation is a separate event to the census and so will have a separate sentence.
A future enhancement that Calico could consider would be to combine sentences for events which occur on the same date.
