Gedcom Census

Post by pamhillier » 17 Mar 2006 22:41

Hi
I've just dowloaded Gedcom Census and am trying it out with a small file before using it on my 500+ individuals in my two main files. I've entered a small family 3 times now and pressed Save Census Entry, which gives me the adding image screen. I do not want to add an image at this time, but I can't see how to save the Census Entry without an image. I know it's late (nearly 1am here), but I'm not usually dense. What am I missing?

Gedcom Census

Hi

Firstly you can stop it asking you by choosing Tools and Options... and untick 'Optionally attach images when saving census record'

If you leave it ticked it will ask you each time, but if you don't have an image to attach just click on the Cancel button when the image form appears. The census will save without an image being attached.

Best wishes

Gedcom Census

This is interesting, as I too have downloaded the Census Gedcom, but until just recently have had no need for it.

BUT, how does one use it, or at least where is the starting point, I cannot seem to see it listed as Census.

Thanks.

Download Gedcom Census
Install it
There will be an entry in your 'All Programs' list for Gedcom Census. You will find the program in there together with the help file. Click on the 'Gedcom Census Help' option and click on the 'Getting started with Gedcom Census' link.

You won't find anything about Gedcom Census in the Family Historian help because it is just a program that I wrote as an add on, it is not in way endorsed by Calico Pie (the Family Historian developers).

Cheers
