I have got quite a long way into the genealogy of my family and recently added many photographs to the records. I followed the manual and linked the photo's to the individual record. I dipped in and out of the programme over a number of weeks including viewing the photographs but today when I try to view any of the pictures I get the legend ' Unable to load object. Unable to open file.' The photo's are still listed by description, type etc in the Multimedia Records window of the individual record and the title date and notes are also still in place but no pic's.
Any ideas?

I have just tidied up the source of my photographs (using 'work with data') and ended up with a few missing pictures. I found that if I browsed back to the source when the picture could not be found, and opened the picture, the problem was corrected.
The situation arose in some of the cases because the picture was not .jpg.

Have you moved the photographs on your drive, remember FH does not embed the photos in your database, simply links to the files on your computer.
Once you have located the files on your computer you can use the Tools, work with external file links to mend any links broken by moving files around on the PC.

Thanks Jane, I did as you suggested.. tools, work with external links and found 'X' on the missing pics. However although I read and re-read the help page I couldn't see what step by step action was required to mend the links. I'm afraid I'm not a 'techy'.You mentioned moving files, the only thing I know I did was to place 3 picture files into one folder for easy selection of my pics across all 3. ie instead of going all the way back to the beginning of the tree 'C'drive then down to the specific file each time I wanted to att a new pic.I then seperated the files out again into their own folders. Looks to me like I've got to start over and not move files around, unless you can help with a step by step guide to 'delete the X's'

That's the cause, you MUST link the photos to the actual location they are permanently stored in.
Drill down to each photo on the links, click on the Move button, then find the photo on the disk and correct the link to the actual location on your C drive.
If you want to collect them together and then link them you must leave them in the new location.
