Have sucessfully entered 1800+ individuals, even managed to do some custom queries, but the first time I ask the programm to produce a Descendants by Generation Narrative Report it mentions some as children in the Parents Generation(1), but misses them out as Members of the Second Generation.I also notice that a note re-a specific census does not appear to come after the relevant entry but rather before any entries. Is it me?[mad][mad][mad]

If the children have their own family in the next generation, then their details will be shown there (a '+' will be shown before their ordinal number in their parents generation). Also, if there are a lot of details for them, then FH seems to also push them onto the next generation. If neither of these apply, then they will only appear (with their details) in their parents generation.

It shows them in the most relevant generation, or close to it.

As for the census note, I know that different types of notes appear in different places in the reports. So a note about an individual will appear in a different place to a note about their marriage, and different again to a note attached to a source. I haven't completely got my head around which notes go where, but it does seem logical (to me at least [smile]) once you remember that there are different classes of note.

Hope this helps

Ganstey has explained the 'missing children'.

Could you screen capture an exploded record window view of the offending note please.

Sorry Jane,
'They say old age does not come alone'. Closer look reveals I added entry to Birth year note, not Census!

However could you or someone give me help/advice re a custom query please?

I am tracing the descendants of one man from 1601, via parish registers etc..
When I receive the update to v.3.I intend uploading the details to my website, however there are cases where individuals appear, who are not on the registers, have families etc..
I have tried to sort these out from the main list(1800+ individuals)via a custom query by treating them as orphans.

My column list is:-Ind.Surname.Fam/Father.Birthdate.Birthplace.
My rows are ADD if Fath.is null.Add if Ind.Surname matches Saint.

The list returned includes all on the master list broken into various intermingled sections, those with and without Fathers, including wives,(via maiden names).I can get rid of the wives by using'exclude if surname matches' but this would mean a filter for each maiden name.I can't see a way to get 'exclude if name DOES NOT match Saint'
Is there a simpler way?
Sorry this is long.

The most humble apologies.
Just realised. '2nd filter shoud be EXCLUDE if Surname etc.
Tried it and it worked.
Sorry to take up so much forum space.[smile][smile]
