I have just had an email from Ancestry.com inviting me to search the BMD registers for free.All I had to do was download the enhanced image viewer and I was away.I could view images that I would usually pay for on 1837online.Follow the link below and see for yourself![smile]

But their indexing compared with 1837online is awful.
If you don't believe me try searching in marriages for the surname Halstead in 1902. This surname generates at least 20 marriages every quarter. So you expect to see 4 entries for every year, with the occational one generating more.
There are 6 entries. One of which says that the page goes from
Eliza Jane Brocklehurst to Gilmore Trevellyan
and another
Mary Atead to Thomas Stephens
At least with 1837online you can correct these errors
