Census Entries.

Having been entered as Individuals, is there any way entries can be linked as Families, other than re- entered as Families?

I suspect you could copy the events, but personally I never put census against families because of the problems with if children were on that census or not, or if a spouse has died.

Just to expand on Jane's answer, a family record usually consists of a spouse and the children that this couple had. If the individual married again they have a second family record with any children this couple had together within this second record.

Now for example, if a woman had 5 children with her husband and only 2 of the children survived and then she remarried and appeared in the census with her new husband and the 2 children. If the census was linked to the first family it would seem to imply that the previous husband and all 5 children appeared in the census too. If the census was linked to the second family it wouldn't include the children.

Unfortunately this does mean the only really workable way of dealing with census records is to link to each individual. When I started to record census entries I realised how long-winded this was to do so I developed the Gedcom Census utility available on this site at http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cg ... cat=GedCom. This has proved to be popular with many Family Historian users.

Best wishes

The simplest way is to write a query based on family records to list all census entries. You can then simply redo the entries against the individuals if you want.
