Counting male and female children

Post by David33 » 12 Dec 2005 20:19

Is there a way to count male and female children separately in a query. I have tried modifying the standard 'Count children (per family)' query, but can't get anything to work.

Thanks

Not directly that I can think of, obviously if you have excel or open office you can do a quick query with the family as child number in a column and the sex in a column and cut and paste in to excel and do a pivot table for the answer.

Thanks, Jane.  I have been doing it, as you suggest, in an Excel spreadsheet, but it's a tedious business!  We get used to FH being able to anything  we throw at it that it that it comes as a bit of a shock to find that there are some things it can't do.  Any chance of this going on the wish list?  I would have thought that if users want to count children, they would want to count males and females separately.
